Silent Honors

ON May 24th, immediately following our Sunday Service, as a part of Memorial Day weekend activities, the veterans of the church will be holding the Second Annual "Silent Honors" ceremony. When the bugler sounds "Tattoo," all Veterans, ROTC Cadets, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts are asked to proceed in silence to the cemetery and "dress right" in a circle around the flag pole. The flag will be lowered, then positioned at half staff. Each person renders a single hand salute of honor in turn around the circle. The bugler will sound "Taps" for the final honors and end the ceremony. Children and families in the congregation are invited to bring a flower to lay on a veteran's grave at the conclusion of the ceremony. All are welcome to return to the social hall for coffee and fellowship.

2008 Audit Report

The 2008 audit report is now complete and available online.

110 Quilts Delivered

Our Quilters used two vehicles to deliver the 110 quilts to the Spring In-gathering in Seattle for Lutheran World Relief. Thanks to all donators of blankets, mattress pads and sheets. WE CAN ALWAYS USE MORE.

A special thank you to the Quilters who dedicate their time to this outreach.

Cook Needed

A lead cook is needed for the second week of Olympic Lutherhaven's Bible Camp, August 15-20. The menu is already planned and we will take care of food purchase, but we need a lead cook for all three meals each day of Bible Camp. Lutherhaven Father's Day Picnic

We are still in need of one or two groups to help with clean up, we do have access to a trailer to help move chairs back to camp side. If you are able to assist, please contact Shelly Ferber at Silverdale Lutheran.

Olympic Lutherhaven Youth Bible Camp

Kids completing grades 3-9 are invited to attend camp this year. Grades 3-5 will run August 8th through August 13th and grades 6 through 9 will run from August 15th through August 20th. All necessary forms are available online. Fees are due no later than June 22, 2009.

Sundays at 2

Our next Sundays at 2 concert is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, October 25th. We are looking for good, local talent to participate in our programs. If you have a music talent or know someone who does, please contact us at sundaysat2@vinlandlc.org. to arrange for an audition. WE CAN ALWAYS USE MORE.

The monthly newsletter, "The Vinyard" is now available online. To view "The Vinyard" in the future, go to the "About Us" button on the menu bar at the top of any page and choose "Newsletter." There will be extras with this e-version including: Links to additional information on topics discussed and weekly updates as the need arises.

If you would like to view the "The Vinyard" online rather than receiving a printed copy, please let the office know at 360-779-3428. This will help us reduce the cost of printing.
